Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Gilbert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miguel Calado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gilbert throws a sloppy head kick and Calado moves out of range easily.
Miguel Calado seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Calado looks to throw a body kick

and Gilbert holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Gilbert tries to pull guard but Calado won't allow it.

Gilbert gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Calado is controlling Gilbert's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Gilbert has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Calado is working away from the top position though.

Calado is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Calado is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Gilbert sees it coming and defends easily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Miguel Calado hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Calado shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Gilbert eats them both and turns towards Calado to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
