The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

West clinches up with Mendez and pushes him back against the cage.
West scores with a shoulder strike.

It looks like Omer Mendez has been cut.
Mendez wants to stall.
Mendez struggles to land a body shot inside as West controls his hands.

Mendez goes for a takedown in the clinch but West prevents it.
Mendez tries to work over West's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Mendez could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
West has Mendez pressed against the cage, preventing Mendez from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Mendez drops to a knee looking for a takedown but West gets the underhooks and prevents it.
