Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Boyce Salazar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, James Smyth!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Micheangelo Fripello and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smyth throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Smyth darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Salazar pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Smyth digs a good hook to Salazar's body.
That kick from Smyth tenderised Salazar's leg. Salazar is trying to keep his angry face on.
Smyth misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Smyth lands the left hand.
Smyth takes a swing at Salazar's ribcage but misses.
Smyth jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Smyth throws out a leg kick but Salazar moves out of range and Smyth only half commits.
Smyth thuds his right hand into Salazar's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Salazar on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Smyth cracks Salazar with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Smyth throws a right hand that Salazar ducks under and follows up with a left that Salazar also avoids with ease.
Smyth thuds his right hand into Salazar's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Smyth throws a hook to the side of Salazar's head but Salazar sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Salazar takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Smyth misses with a low kick.
Salazar shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Smyth feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Smyth being controlled here momentarily.
Salazar looking to hit a scissor sweep but Smyth is one step ahead there.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Boyce Salazar just wasn't active enough.
Salazar walks into a jab.


Salazar is rocked!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Smyth lands a body shot.
Salazar has a takedown stuffed.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Smyth lands with a good body shot.
Salazar blocks a head kick by Smyth.
Smyth is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Salazar had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Smyth throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Salazar stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Smyth lands a nice hook to Salazar's body. Salazar takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Salazar is breathing heavily.
Smyth jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Smyth walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Salazar checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
James Smyth seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smyth misses with the combination.
Jab, jab by Smyth - just one landing.
Oh Salazar is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Smyth is looking for a takedown. Wow, that's a brutal slam - Salazar is in big trouble! Smyth is landing strikes from the mount and this one is all over! The ref jumps in to save a confused looking Salazar. Poor guy.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:08 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Slam). James Smyth!
