The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Green has a takedown stuffed.
Rodrigez tries to clinch up.

Rodrigez clinches with his opponent.
Rodrigez looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Rodrigez wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Rodrigez tries to break free but Green pushes him back against the cage.
Green wants a takedown.
Green has Rodrigez pressed against the cage, preventing Rodrigez from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Green's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Green dives in and grabs Rodrigez's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rodrigez pushes down on Green's head and hops out.
Ricco Rodrigez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Green.
Green shoots in for a takedown but Rodrigez shows good takedown defense.
Green fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rodrigez avoids it really well and circles away.
Rodrigez throws a right hand that Green ducks under and follows up with a left that Green also avoids with ease.

Rodrigez throws a series of punches but Green moves out of range.
Green throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rodrigez's waist but Rodrigez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Green off to one side.

Green shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Green was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Rodrigez pushes Green away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Green gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Rodrigez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Green on the ground.

Green is looking to take a break and control but Rodrigez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Green has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Rodrigez is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Green yanks on the arm and Rodrigez is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Green.

John Green tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
