A fine choice. Alves is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Rob Zombie - Scum of the earth . Fernando Alves has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tyler Durden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fernando Alves!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Elvis Blanc and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Durden.
Durden misses with the combination.
Durden will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Alves uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Durden.

Alves drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Alves controls the position from side control.

Alves goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Durden rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Alves's guard! Nice work there by Durden!
Alves tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Alves is working an open guard so Durden takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Alves is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Durden cracks Alves with a good jab.
Durden moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Alves closes this distance looking for a takedown but Durden circles away.
Alves shoots in and drives through. Durden sprawls well.

Alves throws a hook but Durden blocks it.
Durden throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Durden leaves Alves with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Tyler Durden has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fernando Alves.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Alves.
A slapping leg kick lands for Alves.
Alves slips a jab from Durden.
Durden throws a wild body kick that Alves sees coming a mile off.
Good leg kick by Alves there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Durden throws a shot from downtown. Alves moves away and avoids it.
Durden on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Alves feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Durdens jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Durden moves out of range of the strikes.
Durden will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Alves has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Durden throws a leg kick which misses Alves's front leg but catches the back leg as Alves tries to avoid it.
Alves throws a chopping leg kick but Durden manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Durden keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Alves swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Durden throws a big shot that misses.
A cross from Durden lands.
Durden feints and then cracks Alves's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Alves down.
Alves bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Durden's head.
Durden throws a shot from downtown. Alves moves away and avoids it.
Alves misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Durden scores with a one two! Alves had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Alves shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Durden as he jumps to the side.

Some wild striking there from Durden.
Durden lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Alves circles away quickly and effectively.
Durden waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Alves.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Alves has his takedown stuffed
enabling Durden to counter with a crisp jab.
Durden misses with a wild combination.
Alves is looking to land body kicks.
Durden throws a series of punches but Alves moves out of range.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Alves throws a low kick, looking for Durden's leg but Durden calmly moves out of range.
Durden looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Durden pivots, looking for a leg kick but Alves is out of range and Durden settles back down.
Durden looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Alves is defended easily by Durden.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Fernando Alves will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Alves keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Alves lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Alves - that will leave a mark!
Durden throws a sloppy body shot
and Alves connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Alves tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Durden was well out of range. Poor timing from Alves.

Alves shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Alves showed some decent athleticism there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Alves missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Alves wants to work for an arm triangle but Durden is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Alves works his foot free and advances to mount.

Alves working over Durden with some ground and pound. Durden looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Alves is trying to control the action in half guard but Durden is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Alves prevents Durden from standing back up.
Alves is nestled in close to Durden, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Alves is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Alves looking to control but Durden is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Poor strikes thrown by Alves there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Alves has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Durden's face.
Alves tries to control but Durden wriggling away.

Alves lands a big shot there that rocks Durden but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Alves working for a guillotine from mount but Durden is in no mood to give up.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Alves throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Fernando Alves showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Durden's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Durden feints and then cracks Alves's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Alves down.
Alves wants to slow Durden down by chopping away at his legs.
Durden tries a head kick but it misses.
Tyler Durden is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Alves fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Durden throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Alves lands with a hook. Durden tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Alves throws a low kick, looking for Durden's leg but Durden calmly moves out of range.

Alves throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Durden tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Alves is in Durden's guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Fernando Alves hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Durden takes one to the side of the head.

Alves scores with a one two! Durden had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Durden fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Alves manages to avoid it.
Durden bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Durden throws a head kick but Alves moves out of range.

A looping hook to the body misses from Durden. Alves does a little dance to reset his feet.
The fighters circling - Alves throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Alves is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Alves rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Durden moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Durden uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Alves has time to react.

Fernando Alves comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Alves has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
