Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Simon Strom!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Paul Smith!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Josh West and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Strom swats away the attempt to clinch by Smith.
Smith looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Smith dives in and grabs Strom's left leg, looking for a takedown. Strom pushes down on Smith's head and hops out.
Strom connects with a nice looking jab.
Smith throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Strom bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Strom goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Strom tried to score with a low kick but Smith checks it.
No joy there for Strom, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Smith blocks a leg kick.
Strom lands a glancing blow to the side of Smith's head.
Smith shoots in but Strom avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Smith moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Smith on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Strom fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A jab from Strom does it's job there.
Strom lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Strom.
Strom lands with a shot to the body.
Jab, jab by Strom - just one landing.
Strom cracks Smith with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Strom moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
It looks like Paul Smith has been cut.
Strom throws a leg kick but Smith moved away.
Strom cracks a nice hook into Smith's ribs.
Strom with a jab.
Strom misses with a low kick.
Smith takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Strom throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Strom connects with a body shot.
Strom scores with a body shot.
Strom misses with a low kick.
Strom throws out a powerful jab.
Smith is rocked!
Strom scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Smith is still on wobbly legs! Can Strom finish him?
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Smith walks straight into a right hand from Strom - that's dropped him! Strom jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Smith from any more punishment! Smith complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Simon Strom!
