PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Viktor Krum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Wolf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Krum comes to the cage accompanied by Viktor Krum will rock you. Wolf has chosen JMT- Blood Runs Cold as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Viktor Krum!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Robert Wolf!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Ryoma Takatsuka and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wolf shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Wolf passes to side control.
Wolf fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Wolf creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Krum sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Wolf tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Wolf has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Krum is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Hilo Training Center, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Krum can't do much from the bottom here.

Wolf looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Wolf thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Wolf has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Wolf might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Krum haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Krum is looking to take a break and control but Wolf is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Krum is really struggling to control Wolf but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Krum is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Wolf will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Wolf is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Wolf is looking to control Krum's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Wolf avoid being mounted?

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

A solid leg kick lands there for Krum.

With the fighters up against the cage, Wolf throws an elbow but misses.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Wolf takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
A looping hook to the body misses from Wolf. Krum does a little dance to reset his feet.
Krum tries to score with a low kick but Wolf moves his leg out of the way.

Wolf slips under a jab from Krum.
Krum fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Krum fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Wolf.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Krum. Wolf shrugs it off though.
Krum looks to throw the jab but Wolf is out of range.
Wolf throws a body punch but Krum moves out of range.
Krum lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Wolf ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Krum moves away.

Wolf feints and as Krum raises his hands in defense, Wolf changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Krum got a little sloppy there for a moment and Wolf has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Krum has managed to get both his arms back between Wolf's legs - danger averted.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Wolf can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Krum controls the pace.
