The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kanazawa wants to clinch up but Stairs keeps it at a distance.
Kanazawa tries to close the distance and clinch up but Stairs swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Stairs counters with a shoot takedown. Kanazawa fights it but they end up in guard.
Stairs stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kanazawa swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Stairs won't allow Kanazawa to get back to his feet.

Stairs looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Kanazawa on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kanazawa tries to get out of the position.
Stairs wants to pass to mount but Kanazawa is defending the position.
Stairs moves into full mount! Kanazawa won't be happy about that!
