Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jalen Vazquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Patrick Marleau!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vazquez scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marleau is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Marleau is not content to let Vazquez control the position.

Vazquez remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That was a close round but I would say that Jalen Vazquez will probably get the nod.

Marleau is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Vazquez has escaped the position, nice work there.
Vazquez is trying to control Marleau's posture but Marleau avoids it.

Marleau tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Vazquez prevents Marleau from moving into mount.
Marleau tries to stand but Vazquez is controlling his head.
You can see the frustration on Vazquez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Marleau is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Vazquez knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Marleau postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Marleau swings around for an armbar but Vazquez sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Marleau's guard.

Vazquez got a little sloppy there for a moment and Marleau has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Vazquez has managed to get both his arms back between Marleau's legs - danger averted.
Vazquez is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Patrick Marleau showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Marleau fails to land the takedown.
Marleau shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Vazquez pinned against the cage. Vazquez gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Marleau has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Vazquez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Marleau working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Vazquez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Vazquez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Vazquez is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Marleau is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jalen Vazquez.

Vazquez shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Vazquez was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jalen Vazquez.
I think Vazquez has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
