PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Gus Bradley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Devin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Gus Bradley has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Gus Bradley seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gus Bradley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Matt Devin!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Marco Blurström and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bradley tries to clinch up but Devin circles away and keeps his distance.
Bradley lands a high kick!
Bradley connects with a solid leg kick.
Devin shoots in for a takedown but Bradley shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Devin dives in and grabs Bradley's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bradley pushes down on Devin's head and hops out.
Bradley lands a nice looking body kick.
Bradley tries to clinch but Devin is having none of it.
Bradley pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Bradley tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Devin manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Devin swats away the attempt to clinch by Bradley.
Bradley thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Devin if he has to take too many more of those.
Bradley wants to clinch up but Devin keeps it at a distance.
Bradley lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Devin's coach down at MMA Sanok Training Center was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Devin's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bradley lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Bradley just misses with a punch to the body.
A big left from Bradley misses.
Gus Bradley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Devin shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Devin was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Devin content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Bradley's coaches at IMMA Gym of ASS have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.

It looks like Devin might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Bradley is looking to regain half guard here but Devin keeps moving and retains side control.

Bradley tries to bench press Devin off him but Devin keeps the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Devin remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Bradley is looking for a sweep.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Devin has hold of Bradley's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Bradley tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Devin cranks the arm and Bradley screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Bradley, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Matt Devin!
