Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Beef Eater (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul McKilly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paul McKilly is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Beef Eater!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paul McKilly!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McKilly gets a clinch.
McKilly wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

I was talking to Eater's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
McKilly tries to break the clinch but Eater is controlling the position.

McKilly is pressed up against the cage. Eater has hold of a leg and is looking to drag McKilly down to the mat. McKilly avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

McKilly wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Eater has him pressed against the cage.

McKilly is fighting off a takedown attempt but Eater is just too persistent for him and manages to trip McKilly to the mat. McKilly regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

McKilly is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Eater dives into side control.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

McKilly throws a hook but Eater avoids it easily.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! McKilly crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Eater - the referee stops the clock and McKilly gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Eater. McKilly manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

McKilly has had enough of the clinch but Eater keeps him there for the moment.
Eater swings wildly with an uppercut but McKilly uses good head movement to avoid it.
McKilly can't find room to land a body shot as Eater controls the action.
