PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gideon Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stanley Goodspeed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hunter comes to the cage accompanied by travis barker solja boy remix. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Skip Squint and John Mangel.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goodspeed lands a body shot.
Hunter shoots in looking for a takedown. Goodspeed tries to sprawl out of it but Hunter keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Goodspeed manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Hunter gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Goodspeed wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Hunter has him pressed against the cage.
Hunter fails to pull guard.
Goodspeed wants to break the clinch but can't.

Hunter has Goodspeed pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Hunter pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Goodspeed tumbling to the mat - Hunter dives into Goodspeed's guard.
Hunteris looking to pass into half guard but Goodspeed pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Goodspeed is in guard.

Hunter escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Goodspeed gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Goodspeed wants to stand but Hunter has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hunter is looking for a triangle but Goodspeed pushes his legs off easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Goodspeed wants to control from the top but Hunter keeps moving.

Goodspeed avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Hunter is breathing heavily.
Goodspeed passes into half guard under a barage of strikes.
Goodspeed looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hunter wants to get back to full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hunter with the active half guard here but Goodspeed passes nicely into side control.
Hunter can't do much from the bottom here.

Goodspeed decides to stand up, so the ref orders Hunter to his feet.
Goodspeed tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Hunter counters by clinching up.
Goodspeed tries to stall but Hunter uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hunter is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Goodspeed gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gideon Hunter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hunter fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Goodspeed can't break the clinch.
Goodspeed wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Hunter tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Hunter is trying to trip Goodspeed. He has hold of a leg but Goodspeed is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Hunter persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Hunter wants to control from the top but Goodspeed keeps moving.

Hunter drops back, looking for a kneebar! Goodspeed looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Goodspeed looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Goodspeed!

Goodspeed decides to stand back up. Goodspeed steps back and let's Hunter get back to his feet.
Goodspeed lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Goodspeed scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Goodspeed drops Hunter with a left right combo! Goodspeed follows him down to the ground into side control.

Hunter is rocked!

It looks like Gideon Hunter has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hunter is trying to work for a sweep but Goodspeed has mounted him!
Oh Hunter is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Goodspeed controlling the pace for now.
Hunter seems to have got his legs back now.
Hunter is squirming around, avoiding Goodspeed's attempts to control the action.
Goodspeed is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hunter wants to control but Goodspeed is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Hunter seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Goodspeed shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Hunter is backing up but Goodspeed catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Hunter covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Goodspeed Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!
