Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Wiley Montoya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quick Silver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wiley Montoya has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Wiley Montoya!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Quick Silver!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Donatello Bradman and Ben Watson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silver takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Silver decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Montoya avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Silver.
Silver performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Montoya won't allow Silver to pass to mount.
Montoya tries to roll over but Silver keeps him under control.
Silver lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silver seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Montoya does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Montoya is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Silver's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Silver's back!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Silver is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Montoya gets his way!

Montoya is looking for the choke from the back position but Silver is controlling his hands well.

Montoya is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Silver knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Silver for a finish.

Montoya is looking for a choke. Silver gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Silver manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silver working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Montoya's head.

Montoya looking to hit a scissor sweep but Silver is one step ahead there.

Montoya has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Silver can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Silver trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Montoya manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Montoya really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Silver manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Silver tries to pull guard but Montoya holds him up against the cage and eventually Silver drops back down to his feet.

Silver wants to stand but Montoya has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Montoya working for a triangle but Silver defends it easily.
Silver forces his way into half guard.

Silver is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Silver is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Montoya is just riding it out for now. Silver eventually gives up the hold.
Silver throwing shots but Montoya is blocking nicely.
Silver is nestled in close to Montoya, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Silver wants to work for an arm triangle but Montoya is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Silver wants to take a breather but Montoya is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Quick Silver dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Silver fails with the takedown
and Montoya counters with a nice low kick that buckles Silver's knee momentarily.
Silver misses with a two punch combination.

Silver feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Silver must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Silver wants to control from the top but Montoya keeps moving.

Montoya working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Silver doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Silver manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Montoya is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Silver defends well.

Silver throws a strike but Montoya rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Silver is working an open guard so Montoya takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Silver looks for a takedown but Montoya sprawls well.
Silver lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.


Montoya is rocked!

No joy there for Silver, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Montoya shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Silver but Silver pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Silver shoots in but no luck this time.
Wiley Montoya has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Quick Silver.
Silver is breathing heavily.
Montoya tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Silver manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Montoya moves in looking to clinch but Silver pushes him off.
Quick Silver is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Silver gets the takedown into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Montoya is not content to let Silver control the position.

Silver goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Montoya rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Silver's guard! Nice work there by Montoya!

Silver is looking to stand up but Montoya isn't so interested in that idea.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Quick Silver showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Silver takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

and Montoya connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Silver throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Montoya was covering up waiting for the punch and Silver finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Montoya lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Silver!
Montoya can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Silver is looking to escape.

The referee warns Silver that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Montoya cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Silver is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Quick Silver has got the better of the ground game so far.

Montoya looking for a guillotine from mount but Silver is having none of it.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Silver really wants to buck Montoya off and get back to his feet.
Montoya has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Silver's face.

You get the feeling that Silver really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Montoya has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Silver is forced to tap!
