And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Marco Polo!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Steven Brown and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcgowan shoots in but no luck this time.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Mcgowan.
Mcgowan dives in and grabs Polo's left leg, looking for a takedown. Polo pushes down on Mcgowan's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcelo Mcgowan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mcgowan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Polo is fending him off so far but Mcgowan persists. Nope, Polo circles away and we're back to standing.

Polo is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Mcgowan's half guard.

Polo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Mcgowan throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Mcgowan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Mcgowan is looking to improve his position.
Polo looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Polo is trying to control. Mcgowan wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Polo thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Mcgowan misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Mcgowan is trying to control but can't.
Polo throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Polo passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Mcgowan!
Mcgowan tries to hold on but Polo pushes him away.

Polo stands up from mount. Strange move.
A head kick misses from Polo.
Mcgowan shoots in looking for a takedown. Polo tries to sprawl out of it but Mcgowan keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Polo manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Polo scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Polo darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Mcgowan is breathing heavily.
Polo passes to full mount!

Polo is working for a guillotine from mount but Mcgowan frees his head quite easily.
Polo trying to control but Mcgowan is having none of it.
Polo punishing his opponent with strikes.
Mcgowan holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Polo tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Polo throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Polo can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Mcgowan is looking to escape.
Polo has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Polo goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Mcgowan is on top in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mcgowan looking to sit in guard and control but Polo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Mcgowan wants to stand up but Polo is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Polo decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mcgowan looks up at the clock. Bad move! Polo lands a right hand from hell, dropping Mcgowan. Polo pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Marco Polo!
