PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Wun Lung (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trey Oshiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Wun Lung!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Trey Oshiro!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Sandra Marshall and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lung blocks a head kick by Oshiro.
Horrible takedown by Lung or perhaps it was just good defense by Oshiro which made him look bad.
Oshiro fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Lung fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Oshiro tries to keep at a distance but Lung has taken the fight into the clinch.

Lung escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Oshiro stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Oshiro wants it to stay on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wun Lung. That's going to take a lot out of him.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Oshiro.
Lung keeps the fight on the outside.

Lung closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Oshiro quickly recovers to half guard.
Lung throws a strike but Oshiro avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Oshiro wants to get back to his feet but Lung is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Lung stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Oshiro swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Lung won't allow Oshiro to get back to his feet.
Oshiro is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Oshiro keeping moving, preventing Lung from controlling successfully.
Lung throws a big elbow that misses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Oshiro pushes Lung off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Oshiro pushes Lung up against the cage in a clinch.
Oshiro is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Lung gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Lung tries to land knees in the clinch but Oshiro avoids the damage to the body.

Lung jumps into guard, dragging Oshiro to the mat.
Lung is trying to control the position but Oshiro postures up.

Lung looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Oshiro trying to control but Lung is working from the bottom.

Lung has his foot on Oshiro's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Oshiro works his way back into a safe position though.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lung has a closed guard, preventing Oshiro from standing up.

Lung is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Oshiro presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Oshiro breaks the clinch.
Lung wants to clinch up but Oshiro keeps it at a distance.
Oshiro stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Oshiro wants it to stay on the feet.
Lung is breathing heavily.
Lung tries to clinch up but Oshiro circles away and keeps his distance.
Lung swats away the attempt to clinch by Oshiro.
Oshiro tries to clinch but Lung is having none of it.
Lung blocks a head kick by Oshiro.
Lung shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Oshiro as he jumps to the side.
Lung pulls out of a head kick attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Oshiro has a takedown stuffed.
Oshiro lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Lung wants to clinch.

Oshiro fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Lung, pushing him back against the cage.
Lung is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Oshiro pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Oshiro jumps guard but Lung turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lung gets underhooks to prevent Oshiro's takedown attempt.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Oshiro is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Lung is defending well for now.
Oshiro connects with a nasty looking knee right to Lung's face.
Lung goes for a takedown attempt but Oshiro pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Wun Lung will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Oshiro is looking to clinch.
Lung throws a front kick that sends Oshiro stumbling back into the cage.

Lung changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Oshiro looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Lung has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Oshiro manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Lung on his heels. He'll look to pass Lung's guard now, I'm sure.
Wun Lung overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Oshiro being controlled here momentarily.

Lung throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Oshiro throwing strikes but missing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Lung keeping moving, preventing Oshiro from controlling successfully.
Lung avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Lung working a defensive guard here.
Oshiro in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Lung wants to stand up but Oshiro is controlling him.

Lung is looking for a triangle but Oshiro pushes his legs off easily.
Oshiro trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Oshiro passes Lung's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Oshiro frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Oshiro trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Lung is trying to escape the mount.
Oshiro looking to control but Lung is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Oshiro is trying to control here but Lung has managed to regain half guard.
Lung wants to improve his position but Oshiro is controlling well.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Oshiro tries to pass to full mount but Lung defends it.
Oshiro not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Oshiro thows a huge punch but Lung dodges it nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Trey Oshiro will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Lung throws a lazy head kick
and Oshiro counters with a head kick. That will keep Lung thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Lung with a lazy takedown attempt
and Oshiro counters with a left and a right that stings Lung.


Lung is rocked!

Oshiro has closed the distance and engaged Lung in a clinch.
Oh Lung is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Oshiro lands an elbow just above Lung 's eye.
Oshiro drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Oshiro manages to pull guard.

Lung stands up from Oshiro's guard - Lung perhaps looking for a knockout.

Oshiro gets in close and instigates a clinch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Oshiro pulls guard.
Lung wants to control from the top but Oshiro keeps moving.

Oshiro is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Oshiro lands a nice elbow.
Lung blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Lung takes a knee right on the jaw!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Oshiro trying to control the position but instead, Lung has worked for underhooks and has pushed Oshiro into the cage.
Lung seems to have got his legs back now.

Lung breaks from the clinch.

Lung lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Oshiro circles away quickly and effectively.

Lung moves into the clinch.
Oshiro prevents a takedown attempt there.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Lung breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Oshiro goes for a double leg but Lung avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Lung continues to drive forward.

Lung goes for a double leg but Oshiro avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Oshiro continues to drive forward.

Lung wants to control from the top but Oshiro keeps moving.

Lung stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Oshiro swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Oshiro uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Lung gets control of Oshiro's arms and successfully pulls guard. Lung will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Oshiro throws a big right hand that misses.
Oshiro must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Lung is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Lung working a defensive guard but Oshiro manages to pass into side control anyway.

Oshiro in side control, throwing shots but Lung defends.
Lung struggling a bit here.
Lung tries to buck Oshiro off but Oshiro is having none of it.
Oshiro throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lung dodges the ground and pound from Oshiro.
Oshiro has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Lung!

And that's the end of the fight!
Trey Oshiro comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Oshiro has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
