The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hadjiev shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Hadjiev postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Samvesu looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Samvesu on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Samvesu tries to get out of the position.

Samvesu is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Samvesu wants to control but Hadjiev is keeping busy.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hadjiev connects with a nice short shot to Samvesu's temple.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hadjiev tries to free his leg and advance position but Samvesu is retaining full guard.

Hadjiev got a little sloppy there for a moment and Samvesu has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hadjiev has managed to get both his arms back between Samvesu's legs - danger averted.
Samvesu has momentary wrist control but Hadjiev slips an elbow through the middle.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Samvesu isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Hadjiev stacks Samvesu on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Hadjiev!
Samvesu is looking to reverse the position.
Hadjiev looks up at the clock and then as Samvesu takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Hadjiev smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hadjiev lands an elbow.
Hadjiev misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

A close round but Valentin Hadjiev will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Samvesu is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hadjiev is just riding it out for now. Samvesu eventually gives up the hold.
