PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lay Pray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Koto Obo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Obo has chosen The Anchormen - Angry Birds as his entrance music. Koto Obo is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lay Pray!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Koto Obo!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Robert Twigg and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pray shoots for a double leg takedown but Obo sprawls well. He's pushed Pray's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Pray changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Obo looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Obo gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Pray wants to pass to mount but Obo is defending the position.
Pray content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Obo tries to get to full guard but Pray has control of the leg.
Pray lands with a punch from half guard.
Pray trying to pass the guard but Obo defending well.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Pray in particular looking to stall.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pray not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Pray is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Still in half guard, Pray seems content to control.
Pray looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Obo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Lay Pray has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Pray shoots in but no luck this time.

Pray shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Obo trying to control but Pray postures up.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Obo tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Pray has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pray controlling the position easily from mount.
The referee warns Obo that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Pray sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Pray punishing his opponent with strikes.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pray lands a nice shot to the head.
Pray controlling the pace for now.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Pray scoring with strikes but Obo is staying in there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pray landing shots from mount.
Pray breaks from Obo's wrist control and lands an elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lay Pray dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Pray throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Obo tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Pray is in Obo's guard.
Pray looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Pray's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Pray passes Obo's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Pray sitting and controlling from the half guard.

Obo is looking for a sweep. Pray is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Pray landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Pray with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Obo tries to get to full guard but Pray has control of the leg.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Pray winds up and cracks Obo with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Obo has hold of Pray's hands but Pray slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Pray slows the pace down in half guard.
Obo taking some punishment here, with Pray in his half guard.
Lay Pray overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Pray wants to pass to mount but Obo is defending the position.
Pray is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Pray lands with a punch from half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pray moves nicely into side control.
Obo is breathing heavily.
Pray tries to advance to mount but can't.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pray is chipping away with strikes.
Pray is staying tight to Obo's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Obo is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Pray has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Pray with the ground and pound from mount.
Pray raining down shots from the mount!
Pray is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Obo can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Pray tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pray landing strikes from the mount and Obo is in trouble!
Pray is landing with some decent strikes but Obo is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Pray putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!


Obo is rocked!
Pray raining down shots from the mount!
Obo is still in real trouble! Can Pray finish him?
Obo takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Pray cracks Obo with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lay Pray!
