Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kurt Averson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quita Ioptoa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quita Ioptoa has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Averson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Ioptoa counters with a series of strikes. Averson will be more careful next time no doubt.

Ioptoa throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Ioptoa throws a head kick but Averson moves out of range.

Ioptoa is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Averson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ioptoa gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Averson is on top in guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ioptoa can do anything to dispel that myth.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Ioptoa got a little sloppy there for a moment and Averson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ioptoa has managed to get both his arms back between Averson's legs - danger averted.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ioptoa slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ioptoa's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Averson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ioptoa defends it easily.

That was a close round but I would say that Kurt Averson will probably get the nod.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Averson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
