The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Bart Greer and Peter Branson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thiago leaves Kowalak with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Kowalak tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Thiago defends well and Kowalak ends up having to push Thiago into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Thiago lands with a short shot to the head.

Thiago's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Thiago throws a leg kick but Kowalak checks it.
Thiago looks for the body kick but Kowalak saw that one coming.

Kowalak bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Thiago is trying to buck Kowalak off.

Kowalak wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Thiago, who protects the arm well.
Kowalak lands a decent elbow from side control.

Kowalak wants to lay and pray for a moment but Thiago keeps working.

Thiago is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
