PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Trey Oshiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mambo Tequila (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tequila has chosen Psychosocial as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Mambo Tequila was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Trey Oshiro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mambo Tequila!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Peter Branson and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tequila tries to clinch but Oshiro moves out of range.
Oshiro circles away from the clinch attempt
and Oshiro counters with a head kick.
Tequila fails in his attempt to clinch.
Oshiro fails with a takedown attempt.
Tequila throws a series of punches but Oshiro avoids them all with ease.
Oshiro fails with a takedown attempt.
No luck for Oshiro with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Trey Oshiro. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Tequila is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Oshiro's half guard.

Oshiro has one foot on Tequila's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Oshiro is defended easily by Tequila.

Oshiro uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Tequila.

Tequila tries to stand but can't do so whilst Oshiro controls his leg.
Tequila wants to pass to mount but Oshiro is defending the position.

Oshiro has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Tequila is on him like a limpet, forcing Oshiro back against the cage.
Tequila crunches a lovely knee into Oshiro's ribcage.
Oshiro is breathing heavily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Oshiro can't break the clinch.

Tequila gets control of Oshiro's arms and successfully pulls guard. Tequila will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Tequila wants to stand but Oshiro is controlling the position.

Oshiro got a little sloppy there for a moment and Tequila has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Oshiro has managed to get both his arms back between Tequila's legs - danger averted.
Oshiro throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Tequila works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Oshiro working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Tequila avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Tequila working for a triangle but Oshiro defends it easily.
Tequila tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Oshiro is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Tequila is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Oshiro is controlling him.

Tequila is looking for a triangle but Oshiro pushes his legs off easily.
Oshiro has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Oshiro controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Oshiro pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Tequila is keeping the position for now.
Oshiro throwing strikes from guard but Tequila blocks nicely.

Tequila scores with a couple of body punches from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Tequila can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Oshiro controls the pace.

Mambo Tequila dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Oshiro looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Tequila fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Oshiro sprawls well initially but Tequila persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Oshiro manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Oshiro shoots in and drives through. Tequila sprawls well.
Oshiro goes for a double leg but Tequila avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Tequila continues to drive forward.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Trey Oshiro. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Tequila turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Tequila manages to end up in side control.
Oshiro is trying to get back to his feet.
Tequila is trying to ground and pound but Oshiro uses the momentary lack of control by Tequila to regain half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Tequila is trying to control the action in half guard but Oshiro is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Tequila throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Tequila not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tequila wants to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tequila trying to control the action but Oshiro is working from the bottom.

Oshiro kicks off Tequila and gets to his feet.
Oshiro dives in for a single leg takedown but Tequila sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Tequila escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Oshiro shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Tequila sprawls well. Tequila wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Oshiro gets slowly back to his feet.
Oshiro moves out of range of the body kick.
Oshiro fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Oshiro looks for a takedown but Tequila sprawls well.

Oshiro keeping full guard, as Tequila tries to pass.
Tequila trying to control the position from guard on top but Oshiro is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Tequila tries to free his leg and advance position but Oshiro is retaining full guard.

Tequila wants to stand but Oshiro has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Tequila drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Oshiro manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Tequila has Oshiro in his guard.
Oshiro controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Oshiro postures up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Oshiro in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mambo Tequila showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Oshiro shoots in for a double leg but Tequila sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Oshiro enables Tequila to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Oshiro manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Oshiro has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Tequila off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Tequila has managed to clinch.
Oshiro creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Oshiro really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Tequila lands a good knee to the midsection. Oshiro won't want to take too many of those.
Tequila stalling in the clinch but Oshiro improves position.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Tequila.

Tequila gets control of Oshiro's arms and successfully pulls guard. Tequila will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Oshiro stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tequila swivels though and keeps the full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Oshiro wants to control from the top but Tequila keeps moving.
Tequila preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Trey Oshiro has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Tequila looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Oshiro shoots in looking for a takedown but Tequila manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Oshiro's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Oshiro is trying hard to land a takedown here. Tequila sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Tequila closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Oshiro did well to prevent Tequila getting side control.
Tequila is keen to just control but Oshiro is a slippery customer.
Tequila is looking to pass Oshiro's guard but actually Oshiro recovers to full guard.

Oshiro kicks Tequila off and gets to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Tequila shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Tequila showed some decent athleticism there.

Tequila seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Oshiro does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Oshiro has one foot on Tequila's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Tequila closes the distance and clinches.
Oshiro tries a body shot but Tequila blocks it.
Oshiro drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Nice body punch from Tequila.

Tequila controlling the action here for a moment.

Tequila jumps guard and drags Oshiro to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Tequila lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Oshiro!
Tequila looking to control but Oshiro is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mambo Tequila comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Tequila has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
