Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jesse Pinsent!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brody Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pinsent tries to score a power double leg takedown but Johnson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Pinsent somewhat.
Brody Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Johnson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pinsent swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Johnson tries to clinch but Pinsent moves out of range.

Pinsent looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Johnson!
Johnson sneaks back into half guard.
Johnson wants to get back to his feet.
Johnson trying to control but Pinsent postures up.

Pinsent seems to be looking for submissions.
Johnson is trying to stand up here but Pinsent is controlling him well.

Pinsent is trying to work for a kimura but Johnson is defending well.
Pinsent prevents Johnson from improving his position.

Johnson wants to control but Pinsent is having none of it.

Pinsent is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Johnson has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Pinsent misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Johnson sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Johnson is trying to stand up here but Pinsent is controlling him well.
Pinsent tries to pass the half guard into mount. Johnson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Johnson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Pinsent is working away from the top position though.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Johnson moves into full guard.
Pinsent trying to control but Johnson is working from the bottom.

Johnson has his foot on Pinsent's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pinsent works his way back into a safe position though.

Pinsent trying to control the position from guard on top but Johnson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Pinsent prevents Johnson from standing back up.
Pinsent is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Johnson's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Johnson tries to hold on but Pinsent pushes him away.

Pinsent working for a submission but Johnson is keeping him at bay.
Johnson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Pinsent breaks from Johnson's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Pinsent is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Johnson has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Johnson!
My spies in Pitbull MMA inform me that Johnson has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Johnson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Pinsent works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Johnson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Pinsent looking for a guillotine here but Johnson defends easily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pinsent avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Johnson wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Pinsent's closed guard. He's half up but Pinsent has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Pinsent pivots and extends the arm, Johnson falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Pinsent! Well done that man!
