Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frederick Mayer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Titus Raptis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Frederick Mayer has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Frederick Mayer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Titus Raptis!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Aleksandr Martynov and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mayer gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Raptis to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Mayer has Raptis pulled in close to control his posture.
Mayer really is a fat lump.
Mayer tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Raptis is looking to stand up but Mayer won't let him.
Mayer is looking to stand up but Raptis isn't so interested in that idea.
Mayer is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Raptis postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Mayer has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Raptis is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Raptis gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mayer has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Raptis is working away from the top position though.
Raptis is pressing down on Mayer's thigh, looking to free his foot. Mayer is holding on for now.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Raptis thows a huge punch but Mayer dodges it nicely.
Mayer is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Raptis wants to stand but Mayer has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Mayer manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Mayer wants to control but Raptis is keeping busy.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mayer is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Raptis is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
It looks like Raptis is going to stand back up.
Mayer is trying to stand.

Mayer makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Mayer turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Mayer looks for a takedown but Raptis sprawls well.

Raptis closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Mayer is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Raptis asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Raptis wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mayer, who protects the arm well.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Mayer wants to control but Raptis postures up.
Mayer is trying to work for a sweep but Raptis has mounted him!
Mayer is in all sorts of trouble here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mayer slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

A close round but Titus Raptis will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Mayer throws a leg kick but Raptis checks it.
Mayer swings away with a leg kick that misses.

Raptis rushes Mayer and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Mayer pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Raptis shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Mayer manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mayer wants to sweep but no luck.
Raptis trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Raptis won't allow Mayer to get back to his feet.
Mayer is pulling down on Raptis's head. It's preventing any offense from Raptis, at least for the moment.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Mayer pushes Raptis off and scrambles back to his feet.

Raptis throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mayer tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Raptis is in Mayer's guard.
Mayer wants to get back to his feet but Raptis is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Mayer is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Raptis must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Raptis decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Mayer, up you get!

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Raptis gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Titus Raptis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Mayer motions for Raptis to come forward. Mayer throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Raptis drives through and clinches with Mayer against the cage.

Raptis has Mayer pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Raptis pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Mayer tumbling to the mat - Raptis dives into Mayer's guard.

Mayer uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Mayer scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Raptis. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Raptis throws a head kick but Mayer moves out of range.
Mayer tries to work over Raptis's front leg with a kick but Raptis checks it.

Raptis closes the distance and clinches.
Mayer tries to throw a body punch but Raptis avoids it by throwing Mayer back against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mayer breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Mayer enables Raptis to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mayer manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Raptis stands up from Mayer's guard - Raptis perhaps looking for a knockout.
Mayer tries to clinch up but Raptis circles away and keeps his distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Titus Raptis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Raptis throws a half hearted mid kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from Mayer. Raptis does a little dance to reset his feet.
Mayer misses with a combination

and Raptis counters by clinching up.

Mayer tries to break the clinch but Raptis is controlling the position.

Raptis gets control of Mayer's arms and successfully pulls guard. Raptis will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Titus Raptis has got the better of the ground game so far.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Mayer wants to control from the top but Raptis keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Raptis preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Raptis controls Mayer momentarily but Mayer frees himself.
Mayer controlling from the top position.
Raptis wants to stand up but Mayer is controlling him.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Titus Raptis wasn't active enough on the ground.
Raptis displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mayer.

Mayer changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Raptis tries to avoid it but Mayer manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Raptis to the ground. Raptis escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Raptis is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Mayer is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Mayer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Frederick Mayer just wasn't active enough.
Mayer misses with a jab to the body
and Raptis counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Mayer thinking.
Raptis lands a jab to Mayer's midsection.

Raptis changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mayer looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Mayer tries to buck Raptis off but Raptis is having none of it.
Mayer is not content to let Raptis control the position.
Raptis in side control, just content to control the action for now.
You can see the frustration on Mayer's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Mayer wants to get back to his feet but Raptis drags him back down.
Raptis tries to move into full mount but can't pass Mayer's legs.

Mayer throws Raptis to one side and escapes!
Mayer misses with a takedown attempt - Raptis sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frederick Mayer. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Raptis manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Mayer on his heels. He'll look to pass Mayer's guard now, I'm sure.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mayer wants to stand up but Raptis is controlling him.
Frederick Mayer has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Titus Raptis is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Mayer throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Titus Raptis comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Raptis has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
