Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jackie Padilla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alaa Darras (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jackie Padilla!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Alaa Darras!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Colin Fray and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Padilla moves out of range as Darras throws a body kick.

Darras closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Padilla wants to get back to full guard.
Darras is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Darras takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Padilla is trying to control but can't.
Padilla looks like he's trying to stand up.

Darras stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Darras forces Padilla back against the cage and clinches.

Darras turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Darras working away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Darras tries to stand but Padilla is controlling his head.
Padilla is not content to let Darras control the position.
The strikes coming from Darras are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Darras wants to stand but Padilla is controlling his arm.
Darras trying to control the action but Padilla is working from the bottom.
Darras throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Padilla works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Darras wants to lay and pray for a moment but Padilla keeps working.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Padilla is trying to maintain the position but Darras is very close to passing his half guard.
Padilla regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Darras.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Padilla seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Darras tries to stand but Padilla is controlling from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Padilla has Darras pulled in close to control his posture.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Padilla is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alaa Darras dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Padilla with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Darras to score with a decent uppercut.
Darras fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Darras gets a takedown into half guard.
Darras has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Darras tries to control but Padilla wriggling away.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Darras is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Padilla has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Padilla!
Padilla is looking to work some ground and pound but Darras has wrist control.
Darras working a defensive guard but Padilla passes into half guard.

Padilla is working for an americana but Darras has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Padilla was thinking about the submission.
Darras is looking to stand back up but Padilla counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Darras.
Alaa Darras has got the better of the ground game so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Darras keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Padilla throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Padilla missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Darras kicks off Padilla and gets to his feet.

Darras clinches.

Padilla has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Darras regains guard immediately.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Padilla throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Padilla content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Darras working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Padilla.
Darras not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Darras is breathing heavily.

Darras working for a triangle but Padilla defends it easily.
Padilla postures up in Darras's guard and throws a big left but Darras blocks it.
Padilla scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Padilla is working Darras over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Darras working a defensive guard but Padilla manages to pass into side control anyway.
Padilla has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Darras tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Padilla wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Darras wants to get back to his feet but Padilla is dominant here and he's now got Darras's back!
Padilla throwing damaging strikes from the back! Darras could be in trouble here!
Darras is trying to remain composed but Padilla is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.

Darras defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Padilla's arms.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Darras covers up after that shot from Padilla.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Padilla is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Padilla gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Padilla gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Padilla apologises and we restart here on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jackie Padilla will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



Darras feints and as Padilla raises his hands in defense, Darras changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Darras stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Padilla swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Padilla is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Darras must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Darras wanted to stand there but Padilla had control of the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Darras is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Darras trying to control the position from guard on top but Padilla is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Alaa Darras was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Darras shoots in and bounces Padilla off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Darras takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Padilla has Darras pulled in close to control his posture.

Padilla throws his legs up looking for a submission but Darras uses it to pass to side control.

Padilla is trying to control Darras's posture but Darras avoids it.
The ground and pound from Darras seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Padilla can't do much from the bottom here.
Padilla is not content to let Darras control the position.
Darras connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Padilla some visible discomfort.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Darras tries for a kimura but Padilla is defending well.
Padilla is looking for a sweep.
Padilla regains half guard there - taking advantage of Darras's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

And that's the end of the fight!
Alaa Darras comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Darras has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
