Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Krystof Mckay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Philmore Butts!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mckay tries to clinch there but Butts circles away.
Mckay tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Butts paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Mckay wants to clinch.
Mckay misses with a looping left.
Mckay is looking to clinch but Butts is avoiding it.
Butts misses with an uppercut. Mckay saw that one coming.
Mckay doesn't manage to clinch there - Butts circles away.
Butts fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Butts swings for the body but Mckay moves out of range.

Mckay clinches.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Butts pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

We've been hearing reports that Mckay has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Mckay tries to close the distance and clinch up but Butts swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Krystof Mckay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Butts throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mckay.
Mckay lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Butts circles away from the clinch attempt
and Butts counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Mckay fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Butts avoids it really well and circles away.

Butts throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Mckay sees it coming and avoids it easily.

The fight stays on the outside here - Mckay looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Butts slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Butts gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Mckay wants to control from the top but Butts keeps moving.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Mckay is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Mckay seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Butts for as long as he can get away with.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Philmore Butts will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Butts has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.

Butts throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Mckay stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Butts can do anything to dispel that myth.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Mckay missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Mckay looking to sit in guard and control but Butts gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Mckay looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Butts must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Mckay looking to hit a scissor sweep but Butts is one step ahead there.

Mckay will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Butts's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Butts wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Mckay sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Mckay has hold of Butts's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Butts manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Butts really wants to buck Mckay off and get back to his feet.
