PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Robert Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rafael Inclan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rafael Inclan will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Robert Black!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rafael Inclan!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Roosa Järviläinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Black tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Inclan throws out a loose jab but Black uses good head movement to avoid it.
Inclan throws a right and a left that Black avoids nicely.
Black displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Inclan throws out the jab.
Black takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Black drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Inclan is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Black misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Inclan is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Black wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Inclan, who protects the arm well.

Black swings around for an armbar but Inclan sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Black's guard.
Black seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Black might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Inclan won't allow Black to sweep him here.

Black manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Inclan manages to get himself to full guard.
Black is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Black's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

We're going to have a standup here because Robert Black wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Black shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Inclan's guard.
Black has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Black stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Black wants it to stay on the feet.

Black tries to pass the half guard into mount. Inclan knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Inclan is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Black pulls his head out easily.

Black slows the pace down in half guard.

Black is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Inclan doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Black.
Black has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Inclan works to full guard.

Black wants to stand and escape but instead Inclan has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Black manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Black takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Robert Black overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Inclan sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Black closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Inclan tries to clinch up but Black circles away and keeps his distance.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Black advances nicely into full mount.

Black won't let Inclan get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Black, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
