Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Domenic Cole!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Matt Williams!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Chris Saunders and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cole slaps away a takedown attempt from Williams, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Williams gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Cole throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Williams looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cole is one step ahead there.
Williams wants to stand and escape but Cole is having none of it.
Williams pulls Cole in close to prevent any damage.
Cole trying to stand up but can't free himself from Williams's guard.

Williams has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Cole is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Cole breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Williams throws a lazy right hand but Cole sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Williams shoots in for a takedown but Cole shows good takedown defense.
Williams shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Cole defends it nicely.
Domenic Cole has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matt Williams.
Cole has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Williams finds it's way round the side to connect with Cole's head.

Williams moves into range and clinches up with Cole.
Williams is looking to break free of the clinch but Cole has double underhooks.
Cole avoiding damage.
Williams can't break the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Williams is trying to stall.

Cole breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Cole slips a jab and a cross from Williams.
Cole misses with a wild combination.
Cole delivers a nice body kick.
Williams throws a sloppy head kick and Cole moves out of range easily.
Williams shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cole but Cole pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Cole tries for a takedown but Williams sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
No joy there for Williams, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Cole fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Williams goes for a double leg but Cole avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Cole continues to drive forward.

Cole decides to pull guard.
Williams wants to get up but he can't break Cole's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Williams stands up from Cole's guard - Williams perhaps looking for a knockout.
Williams tries to clinch but Cole is having none of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Williams throws a right hand that Cole ducks under and follows up with a left that Cole also avoids with ease.
Cole stuffs the takedown.
Williams shoots in for a takedown but Cole shows good takedown defense.

Cole instigates a clinch.
Williams tries to circle away but Cole has him pinned against the cage.
Cole tries to pull guard but Williams holds him up against the cage and eventually Cole drops back down to his feet.
Cole looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Williams is trying to break the clinch but Cole has him pressed against the cage.

Cole pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Matt Williams will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Williams throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Cole counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Williams looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Cole makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Cole avoids a kick to the body.
A lazy body kick from Williams
and Cole counters with a body kick that stops Williams in his tracks momentarily.
Williams misses with a double jab.
Williams has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Cole.
Williams cracks Cole with an open hand slap.


It looks like Domenic Cole has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Williams misses with a series of wild punches.
Williams throws a nice looking combination but Cole bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Cole shoots in and bounces Williams off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Williams wants to stand and escape but Cole is having none of it.
Cole missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Williams has his feet on Cole's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Williams shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Cole as he avoids it easily.
Williams is breathing heavily.
Williams is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Williams misses with a double jab
and Cole counters with a two punch combo.
Cole really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cole circles away from the clinch attempt
and Cole counters with a body kick that stops Williams in his tracks momentarily.
Cole shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Williams sprawls well. Williams wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Cole gets slowly back to his feet.
Williams throws a sloppy head kick and Cole moves out of range easily.
Cole keeps the fight on the outside.
Williams lets his hands go wild with a nice combination. Left! Right! Uppercut! Spinning backfist! Cole goes down and covers up as Williams starts wailing on him! The ref watches the action closely before stepping in and putting a stop to the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Matt Williams!
