PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eric Moon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Braham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Moon comes to the cage accompanied by Purple Haze - Jimi Hendrix. John Braham told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Eric Moon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John Braham!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, David Hoff and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Braham fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Braham's coach down at Cozad The Island was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Braham's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Moon looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Braham tries to clinch there but Moon circles away.
Braham lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Moon circles away quickly and effectively.
Moon defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Braham.

Braham looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Braham tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Moon actively working from the bottom here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Moon won't allow Braham to pass to mount.
Braham content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Braham is nestled in close to Moon, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Braham wants to take a breather but Moon is having none of it.
Braham tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Moon tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Braham connects with a nice short shot to Moon's temple.
Moon wants to get back to full guard.

Moon looking for submissions off his back.
Braham really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Moon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Braham is working for a kimura but Moon is defending it quite comfortably.

Braham trying to control the action but Moon is working from the bottom.

Braham seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Moon does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Braham is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Moon is just riding it out for now. Braham eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Moon is not content to let Braham control the position.
Moon tries to get to full guard but Braham has control of the leg.
Moon has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Braham is working away from the top position though.
Braham is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Braham is trying to control. Moon wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Moon wants to control but Braham is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Braham is looking to take a break and control but Moon is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Moon is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Braham looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Braham lands a nice short elbow.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Moon wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Braham dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Braham throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Moon circles away from the clinch attempt.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Braham.
Braham shoots in but no luck this time.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Braham is defended easily by Moon.
Eric Moon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Braham.
Braham wants to clinch up but Moon keeps it at a distance.
Braham misses with a head kick.
Braham looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Moon is fending him off so far but Braham persists. Nope, Moon circles away and we're back to standing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Braham lands a nice looking body shot.

Braham pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Moon definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Braham looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Moon.
Braham misses with the combination.
Braham rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Moon moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Moon changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Braham tries to avoid it but Moon manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Braham to the ground. Braham escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Braham looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Moon!

Moon is looking to control Braham's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Moon avoid being mounted?
Moon wants to get back to full guard.
Braham with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Moon moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Braham wants to control from the top but Moon keeps moving.

OK we're going to have a standup here. John Braham hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Braham throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Braham throws a head kick but Moon moves out of range.
Braham shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Moon eats them both and turns towards Braham to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Moon slaps away a takedown attempt from Braham, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Braham tries to clinch there but Moon circles away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Braham thows a leg kick but Moon checks it
and Moon counters with a nice body kick.
Braham tries to clinch up but Moon circles away and keeps his distance.
Moon keeps the fight on the outside.
Braham scores with a one two! Moon had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Braham closes the distance looking to clinch
and Moon counters with a thumping low kick.
Braham fails with the takedown.
Braham misses with a kick to the body
and Moon counters with a low kick, right behind Braham 's knee.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Moon avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Braham showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Moon keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
John Braham seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Braham lands a nice leg kick that just misses Moon's sensitive parts.
Moon tries to move into range but Braham moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Braham tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Moon paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Moon has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Braham can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Braham is trying to force a seperation but Moon has the dominant position.
Moon keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Braham's efforts to push away.
Moon has Braham pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Braham manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Eric Moon has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
John Braham is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Moon changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Braham fights it off and pushes away nicely.

John Braham comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Braham winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
