Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Johny Hendricks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Hadfield (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Johny Hendricks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Hadfield!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Jorge Garcia and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hendricks gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Hadfield being controlled here momentarily.
Hendricks doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hendricks working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hadfield doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hadfield manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Hadfield throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hendricks works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Hendricks is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Hadfield wants to control from the top but Hendricks keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Hendricks tries to roll over but Hadfield keeps him under control.

Hadfield winds up and cracks Hendricks with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Hadfield is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hendricks has managed to free his arm - good work.
Hendricks is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Hadfield is thwarting Hendricks's attempts to control the position.
Hadfield lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hendricks wants to control but Hadfield passes into side.

Hadfield drops back, looking for a kneebar! Hendricks looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Hendricks looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Hendricks!

Hendricks wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hadfield, who protects the arm well.
Hadfield is trying to control Hendricks's posture but Hendricks avoids it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hadfield wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Hadfield sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jim Hadfield dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Hendricks shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Hendricks moves in looking to clinch but Hadfield pushes him off.
Johny Hendricks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hendricks bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Hadfield tries to buck Hendricks off but Hendricks is having none of it.
Hadfield is trying to escape the position but Hendricks is controlling the position.

Hendricks is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hadfield knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hadfield connects with a nice short shot to Hendricks's temple.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Hadfield throws a strike but Hendricks avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Jim Hadfield showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Hadfield shoots in for a double leg but Hendricks sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Johny Hendricks is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hadfield tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hendricks was well out of range. Poor timing from Hadfield.
Hendricks shoots in for a takedown but Hadfield shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Hadfield has a couple of punches blocked by Hendricks.

Hadfield has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Hendricks is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Hadfield is pressed up against the cage. Hendricks has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Hadfield down to the mat. Hadfield avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Hendricks shoots in but Hadfield avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Hendricks fails to land the takedown.
Hendricks throws a chopping leg kick but Hadfield manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Hadfield tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hendricks defends well and Hadfield ends up having to push Hendricks into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Hadfield.
Hadfield wants a takedown.
Hadfield is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Hendricks to keep the fight standing.
Hendricks lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Hendricks manages to break the clinch.
Hendricks keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Hadfield is looking to escape.
Hadfield is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Hendricks drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hendricks jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Hadfield has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
