PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Booker Huffman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Merrick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Booker Huffman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Merrick!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Lou da Vinci and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Merrick avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

and Huffman decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Merrick's guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Huffman passes Merrick's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Huffman drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Huffman jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Huffman goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Merrick rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Huffman's guard! Nice work there by Merrick!

Merrick got a little sloppy there for a moment and Huffman has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Merrick has managed to get both his arms back between Huffman's legs - danger averted.

That was a close second round but I would say that Booker Huffman will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Merrick has taken the fight to the clinch.
Merrick drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Huffman gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Huffman is pushing Merrick up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Merrick has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Huffman after a bit of a struggle.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Booker Huffman.
