PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Edward Teach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrei Diamondback (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Andrei Diamondback told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Dirk Anderson and David Hoff.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Teach throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Diamondback's waist but Diamondback gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Teach off to one side.
Diamondback looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Teach fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Teach with a poor takedown
and Diamondback connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Edward Teach. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A solid leg kick lands there for Diamondback.
Diamondback cracks Teach with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

and Diamondback counters with a three punch combo that has Teach backing up. Teach nods at Diamondback to acknowledge the strikes.
Diamondback's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Diamondback duly obliges.
Teach takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Teach walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Teach shoots in for a takedown but Diamondback shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Teach seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Teach shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Diamondback as he avoids it easily.
Teach on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Teach misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Edward Teach seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Diamondback is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Teach had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Teach takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
