Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shawn Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Samuel Adams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Taylor comes into the arena with This Fire Burns blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shawn Taylor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Samuel Adams!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Adams is defended easily by Taylor.
Taylor misses with a kick to the body.
Adams tries to clinch but Taylor moves out of range.
Taylor tries to clinch but Adams is having none of it.
Adams darts in looking for a takedown but Taylor gets double underhooks and turns Adams into the cage.
Adams is struggling to control the position.
Adams has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Taylor after a bit of a struggle.
Shawn Taylor has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Samuel Adams.
Taylor is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Adams is keeping busy.
Taylor presses Adams against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Taylor wants to sweep here but Adams controlling him for the moment.
Adams lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Taylor utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Taylor has control of Adams's left arm, preventing Adams from doing any damage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Taylor controls Adams momentarily but Adams frees himself.

Taylor looking for a sweep. Not yet Taylor, not yet.
Adams postures up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Shawn Taylor wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Adams looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Taylor lands a jab-cross combination.


It looks like Samuel Adams has been cut.
Taylor bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Adams's head.
Adams shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Taylor but Taylor pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Adams gets a takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Taylor tries to get to full guard but Adams has control of the leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Adams thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Adams missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Adams winds up and cracks Taylor with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Adams is looking for a kimura here.
Taylor trying to control but Adams postures up.
Taylor makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Taylor.
Adams throwing strikes from guard but Taylor blocks nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Taylor is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Taylor manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Adams manages to get himself to full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Adams shoots in but Taylor avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Taylor moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Taylor will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Taylor shoots in but no luck this time.
Adams looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Adams blocks a head kick by Taylor.
Taylor leaves Adams with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Taylor jabs Adams to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Adams looks winded!
Adams changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Taylor tries to avoid it but Adams manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Taylor to the ground. Taylor escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Taylor paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Adams looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Taylor is fending him off so far but Adams persists. Nope, Taylor circles away and we're back to standing.
Taylor fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Adams avoids it really well and circles away.
Adams shoots in for a takedown but Taylor shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Taylor stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Taylor wants it to stay on the feet.

Adams misses with a takedown attempt
and Taylor counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Adams swats away the attempt to clinch by Taylor.
Taylor stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Taylor wants it to stay on the feet.
Taylor throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Adams.


That has opened up Samuel Adams's cut even more.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Adams looks for a takedown but Taylor sprawls well.
Adams is breathing heavily.
Adams throws a wild hook but Taylor just manages to duck under it and - ooooh! Adams gets nailed by a brutal uppercut which crumples him back against the cage! The referee jumps in - Taylor raises his hands in celebration and walks away!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Shawn Taylor!
