The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Merritt moves out of range of the strikes.
Merritt fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Bauer shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Merritt napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ground and pound from Bauer seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Merritt avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Bauer.
Merritt is not content to let Bauer control the position.
