The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shimizu throws a head kick but Miyata moves out of range.
Shimizu pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A slow jab from Shimizu misses its intended target.
Miyata throws a poor cross that misses
and Shimizu counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Miyata blocks a head kick by Shimizu.
Shimizu throws a head kick but Miyata moves out of range.
Miyata tries to land a leg kick but Shimizu saw it coming and moves away.
Shimizu tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Miyata on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Shimizu lands with an overhand left.
Shimizu connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Shimizu lands a nice looking kick to the body. Miyata takes a step back to recover.

Miyata moves away from the strike by Shimizu.
Shimizu throws a head kick that Miyata semi-blocks.

It looks like Kira Miyata has been cut.
Yuya Shimizu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shimizu tries a head kick but it misses.
Nice takedown defense from Shimizu. No joy for Miyata on that attempt.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Miyata throws a hook but Shimizu avoids it easily.
Miyata's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Shimizu connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Miyata scrambles back to his feet.
Miyata gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Shimizu throws a quick inside leg kick.
Shimizu misses with a body kick.
Miyata moves out of range of the body kick.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Shimizu, right into the meat.

Miyata shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Miyata was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Miyata trying to control the position but Shimizu is working away.
Shimizu being controlled for a moment.
Miyata is looking to take a break and control but Shimizu is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Shimizu is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Miyata has just dragged him back down to the mat.
The ground and pound from Miyata seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Shimizu tries to escape but Miyata is in control.

Miyata thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Miyata takes one to the side of the head.
A chopping leg kick lands by Shimizu.
Shimizu throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Miyata counters with a nice uppercut.

Miyata looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Shimizu looks like he's trying to stand up.

Miyata is trying to work for a kimura but Shimizu is defending well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shimizu is trying to stand back up but Miyata is controlling him
Shimizu has hold of Miyata's hands but Miyata slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Miyata wants to control but Shimizu is keeping him busy.

Miyata is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Shimizu doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Miyata.
Miyata is stalling here. Shimizu is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Miyata seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Shimizu has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Miyata is looking to reverse the position.

Miyata trying to control but Shimizu flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!
Shimizu is hanging on to Miyata's back as he tries to escape.

Miyata looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Miyata rolls, trying to escape but Shimizu keeps control of the position.

Shimizu is trying to stand.
You can see the frustration on Miyata's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Shimizu controlling the position well here. Miyata rolled but Shimizu kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Miyata just trying to survive but Shimizu is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Kira Miyata showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Shimizu's jab looks to have found its range, popping Miyata under the eye.

Shimizu fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Miyata manages to avoid it.

Shimizu misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Shimizu missing with a left hand there. Miyata was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
An inside leg kick from Miyata misses.
Shimizu stuns Miyata with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Shimizu throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

and Shimizu connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Shimizu throws a head kick that misses
letting Miyata counter with a right hand.
Miyata checks a leg kick.
Shimizu throws a head kick but Miyata moves out of range.
Miyata bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Shimizu's head backwards.
Shimizu throws a sloppy head kick and Miyata moves out of range easily.
Shimizu thuds his shin into the meat of Miyata's side.

Shimizu misses the shot to the body.
A chopping leg kick lands by Shimizu.
Miyata moves out of range of the body kick.
Miyata takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Shimizu tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Yuya Shimizu is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Shimizu, as that shot connected.
Miyata takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Shimizu avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Miyata tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Miyata avoids the head kick by Shimizu.
The fighters circle momentarily. Shimizu darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Miyata blocks a head kick by Shimizu.
Shimizu attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Shimizu throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Shimizu lands with a kick to the temple. Miyata shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
