Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Takeru Masaru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vesa Sykk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Masaru comes to the cage accompanied by The Naked And Famous - Young Blood. Sykk has chosen Rage Against The Machine - Killing In The Name as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Takeru Masaru!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vesa Sykk!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Chris Edwards and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sykk blocks a leg kick.
Sykk throws out a loose jab but Masaru uses good head movement to avoid it.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Sykk enables Masaru to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sykk manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Sykk is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Sykk being controlled here, momentarily.
Sykk is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Sykk has Masaru pulled in close to control his posture.
Masaru is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Masaru forces his way into half guard.

Masaru is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sykk is just riding it out for now. Masaru eventually gives up the hold.
Masaru wants to take a breather but Sykk is having none of it.
Sykk wants to get back to full guard but Masaru has passed into side control.
Masaru is looking to take a break and control but Sykk is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Sykk manages to get back to half guard.
Masaru is just content to waste time from the top position. Sykk takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Sykk is trying to control the position but Masaru postures up.

Sykk looking for a guillotine here but Masaru defends easily.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Masaru passes into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sykk is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Masaru pulls his head out easily.
Sykk tries to get to full guard but Masaru has control of the leg.
Masaru performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Masaru tries to pass to full mount but Sykk defends it.

Masaru is working hard here to advance position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Masaru passes the guard and advances to mount!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Masaru looking to control but Sykk is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Takeru Masaru dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Masaru throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Masaru swats away the attempt to clinch by Sykk.
Masaru moves out of range of the body kick.
Sykk looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Sykk takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Masaru stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Masaru misses with a low kick.
Sykk tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Nice shot by Masaru.
Masaru takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Sykk scores with a nice head shot.
Sykk scores with a punch to the head.

Masaru checks the leg kick nicely there.
Masaru scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Sykk wants to clinch.
Sykk throws a front kick aimed at Masaru's knee but Masaru avoids it well.
Sykk throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Sykk staying out of range there.
Sloppy strikes from Masaru. Those never looked like landing.
Sykk misses with a head kick.
Sykk throws a head kick that misses.
Sykk lands a slapping body shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Masaru fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Sykk is out of range.
Masaru throws a low kick but Sykk moves out of range easily.

Sykk takes a swing at Masaru's ribcage but misses.
Masaru moves out of range of the leg kick from Sykk.
Masaru ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Sykk moves away.
Masaru throws a chopping leg kick but Sykk manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Sykk scores with a decent looking hook.
Masaru looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Masaru shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sykk pinned against the cage. Sykk gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Sykk connects with a leg kick. Masaru looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Vesa Sykk is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The fighters circle momentarily. Sykk darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Masaru takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Sykk moves out of range as Masaru strikes.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Sykk effectively controlling the action here.
With the fighters up against the cage, Sykk throws an elbow but misses.
Sykk misses with a hook from the clinch.
Masaru prevents a body shot from Sykk.
Sykk throws an elbow that misses.
Sykk tries to break the clinch but Masaru is controlling the position.

Masaru escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sykk swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Vesa Sykk seems to be getting the better of the standup.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A cross from Sykk lands.
Sykk throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Sykk rushes Masaru and presses him up against the cage.
A nice left hand lands by Sykk.


Masaru is rocked!
Sykk lands a big right hand that drops Masaru! The killer instinct kicks in and Sykk finishes his opponent with a series of strikes from mount. A dominating finish by Sykk!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vesa Sykk!
After winning the bout, Vesa Sykk thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
