The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

and Marfil counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Marfil has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Gonzalez is landing a low percentage of strikes.

and Marfil connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Gonzalez throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Gonzalez swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Marfil moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Marfil looks to score with a jab to the body but Gonzalez is just out of range.
Gonzalez connects with a good right hand that stumbles Marfil. Marfil circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Gonzalez tries to bum rush Marfil with a series of wild strikes but Marfil uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Gonzalez throws a nice looking combination but Marfil bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Marfil tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gonzalez was well out of range. Poor timing from Marfil.
No joy there for Marfil, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Gonzalez has closed the distance and engaged Marfil in a clinch.
Marfil keeps control of Gonzalez as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Marfil throws a shot to the body.
Marfil swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Marfil lands a left and a right that send Gonzalez crashing to the mat, dazed. Marfil thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Damian Gonzalez has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Marfil lets his hands go wild with a nice combination. Left! Right! Uppercut! Spinning backfist! Gonzalez goes down and covers up as Marfil starts wailing on him! The ref watches the action closely before stepping in and putting a stop to the fight!
