The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nichols lands a leg kick that knocks Wai off balance momentarily.
Wai fails with the takedown.
Nichols throws a nice inside leg kick.
Good leg kick by Nichols there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Nichols connects with a leg kick. Wai looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Wai changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nichols tries to avoid it but Wai manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nichols to the ground. Nichols escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Nichols lands with a straight right. Wai didn't see that one coming.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Wai shoots in looking for a takedown. Nichols tries to sprawl out of it but Wai keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Nichols manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Benjamin Nichols has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Puna Wai.

Nichols looks to land a combination. Wai sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Nichols clobbers Wai with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Wai misses with a takedown attempt - Nichols sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Nichols fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Wai has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Nichols cracks Wai with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Nichols ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Wai is trying desperately to land a takedown but Nichols is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Wai.

Wai is rocked!
Nichols is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
The fighters circle, before Nichols throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Wai's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Nichols lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!
