The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodriguez darts in trying to clinch
and Alves counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Alves throws a good cross that connects.
Alves delivers a nice body kick.
Alves connects with a crisp jab.
Alves lands a nice shot that snaps Rodriguez's head back.

Rodriguez closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Rodriguez jumps guard but Alves turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Rodriguez jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Alves walks away with a smile on his face. Rodriguez gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Alves stuns Rodriguez with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Alves scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
