Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Scotty Barrett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dalton McConnel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Barrett might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Les Paul and Mary Ford ~ I'm A Fool To Care . Scotty Barrett has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Patrick Alders and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barrett tries to clinch but fails miserably
enabling McConnel to counter with a crisp jab.
McConnel slaps away a takedown attempt from Barrett, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Barrett closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. McConnel quickly recovers to half guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
McConnel is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Barrett is figuring out what he wants to do next.
McConnel tries to roll over but Barrett keeps him under control.

Barrett has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Scotty Barrett wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Barrett tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but McConnel paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Barrett shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with McConnel but McConnel pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Barrett is pushing McConnel up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
McConnel gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Barrett.
McConnel escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Scotty Barrett will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
McConnel misses the shot to the body.
Barrett closes this distance looking for a takedown but McConnel circles away.
Barrett tries to score a power double leg takedown but McConnel sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Barrett somewhat.

Barrett changes levels and goes for a takedown here. McConnel fights it off and pushes away nicely.
McConnel lands with a shot to the body.

McConnel throws a lazy uppercut
and Barrett counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Barrett closes the distance and clinches up with McConnel, looking for a takedown. Barrett pushes McConnel against the cage but McConnel circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
McConnel tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Barrett was well out of range. Poor timing from McConnel.
Horrible takedown by Barrett or perhaps it was just good defense by McConnel which made him look bad.
Barrett needs to keep his hands up - McConnel had a free shot at his head there.
McConnel throws a combination. Barrett tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
It looks like Scotty Barrett has been cut.

McConnel scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Barrett doesn't seem bothered though.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
McConnel cracks Barrett with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Barrett wants to clinch up but McConnel keeps it at a distance.
Barrett shoots in but McConnel avoids the takedown attempt easily.
McConnel throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Barrett sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Barrett moves in looking to clinch but McConnel pushes him off.
Barrett looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
McConnel displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Barrett.
McConnel scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dalton McConnel showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
McConnel clobbers Barrett with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

and Barrett takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
McConnel throws out a loose jab but Barrett uses good head movement to avoid it.

Barrett bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
McConnel is looking for a sweep.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
McConnel tries to bench press Barrett off him but Barrett keeps the position.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Barrett tries to close the distance and clinch but McConnel swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Scotty Barrett seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Barrett goes for a double leg but McConnel avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as McConnel continues to drive forward.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Barrett has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by McConnel after a bit of a struggle.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Barrett drops to a knee looking for a takedown but McConnel gets the underhooks and prevents it.
McConnel tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Barrett's elbow.

I would just about give that final round to Dalton McConnel.
