The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Duncan lands with a kick to the temple. Ali shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Duncan's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Duncan duly obliges.

Ali closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Duncan tries to kick Ali off but Ali keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Duncan preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Ali wants to pass to mount but Duncan is defending the position.
