PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Qo Nosof (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carmelo Lawrence (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Carmelo Lawrence was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carmelo Lawrence!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Wesley Smith and Chris Downing.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nosof looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Nosof misses with a few strikes there.
Nosof buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

and Lawrence decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Nosof's guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Lawrence is looking to work some ground and pound but Nosof has wrist control.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Lawrence working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Lawrence throws an elbow that misses. Nosof uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Lawrence's guard. Nice move by Nosof!

Lawrence is looking for a triangle but Nosof pushes his legs off easily.

Nosof slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Lawrence has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Lawrence had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Nosof defends it easily.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lawrence can do anything to dispel that myth.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Nosof rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lawrence moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Lawrence's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Nosof is pressed up against the cage. Lawrence has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Nosof down to the mat. Nosof avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Qo Nosof is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
