Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between King Vasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lenadro Cardoso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, King Vasquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lenadro Cardoso!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shigeki Sano and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cardoso manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Vasquez on his heels. He'll look to pass Vasquez's guard now, I'm sure.
Vasquez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Vasquez keeping moving, preventing Cardoso from controlling successfully.

Cardoso gets to his feet - Vasquez follows without any prompting.
Vasquez could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Vasquez gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Vasquez has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Vasquez is looking to break free of the clinch but Cardoso has double underhooks.
Cardoso jumps guard but Vasquez turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Cardoso is trying to stall.
Cardoso tries for a takedown but Vasquez manages to get underhooks.
Vasquez misses with a short punch on the inside.
Cardoso on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Cardoso is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Cardoso has closed the distance and engaged Vasquez in a clinch.

Lenadro Cardoso seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cardoso shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Vasquez counters by clinching up.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Vasquez jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Cardoso walks away with a smile on his face. Vasquez gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Vasquez closes the distance and clinches.

Cardoso is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Vasquez struggles to land a body shot inside as Cardoso controls his hands.
Vasquez lands a nice shot to the body.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Vasquez.
Vasquez content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Vasquez really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...
Cardoso is looking for a sweep.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Vasquez in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Vasquez is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Cardoso's shoulder. That is not cool.
Cardoso is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Vasquez wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Cardoso, who protects the arm well.
Vasquez is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cardoso dives in and grabs Vasquez's left leg, looking for a takedown. Vasquez pushes down on Cardoso's head and hops out.

Well Vasquez has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
