Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dirt McGirk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Demarcus Bate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGirk comes to the cage accompanied by This Is Who I Am . Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dirt McGirk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Demarcus Bate!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bate uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from McGirk.
McGirk looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Nice shot by Bate.
McGirk goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Bate scores with a body shot.
McGirk throws a shot to the body.
A big right from Bate misses.
McGirk lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bate circles away quickly and effectively.
Bate throws a nice outside leg kick.
Dirt McGirk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McGirk throws a right and a left that both miss.
McGirk moves in looking to clinch but Bate pushes him off.
McGirk tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Bate counters with a straight right hand.
Bate moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
McGirk takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
McGirk misses the shot to the body.
McGirk looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

McGirk moves into range and clinches up with Bate.
Bate presses McGirk against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
A short right from Bate on the inside.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bate digs a right hand underneath McGirk's ribcage. McGirk let out a lung full of air as it connected.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Bate has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Bate lands an elbow just above McGirk 's eye.
Bate lands a right hand.
Bate misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Bate lands a damaging elbow.
Bate digs a right hand into McGirk's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on McGirk's gas tank.

Bate has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed McGirk clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
McGirk has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Bate.
Bate throwing wild punches that miss their target.
McGirk controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
Bate looking to soften up his opponent with punches.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Bate controlling the position well here. McGirk rolled but Bate kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Bate is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. McGirk is defending well though. Bate let's go of the attempt for now.

Bate working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bate throwing wild punches that miss their target.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McGirk has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Bate.
Well, with Bate on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before McGirk is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

Bate looking to break McGirk's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. McGirk remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Bate will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Bate wants to control but McGirk is keeping busy.
Bate throwing strikes and McGirk squirms under the pressure, ending up mounted.

Bate looking to isolate an arm here. McGirk doesn't see it coming and as Bate extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Bate!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Demarcus Bate!
Demarcus Bate decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
