PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rockin Rolla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Blatz Beer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Beer is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Hostile Mass. Blatz Beer will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rockin Rolla!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Blatz Beer!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Beer takes the fight into the clinch.
Rolla is pressed up against the cage. Beer has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Rolla down to the mat. Rolla avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Beer shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rolla as he jumps to the side.

Rockin Rolla has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Blatz Beer.
Rolla throws a low kick but Beer avoids it.
Beer shoots for a takedown but Rolla saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Beer tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rolla swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Rolla throws a head kick but Beer moves out of range.
A jab-cross combination lands for Rolla and sends Beer crashing to the mat! Rolla follows him down to the mat - Beer regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!


It looks like Blatz Beer has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rolla moves nicely into side control.

Rolla tries for a kimura but Beer is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rolla is putting a hurting on Beer here, landing some big shots from side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Rolla decides to stand back up.

Beer shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Beer showed some decent athleticism there.
Rolla wants to improve his position but Beer is controlling well.
Rolla has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Beer is working away from the top position though.

Rolla has one foot on Beer's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Beer throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rolla's waist but Rolla gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Beer off to one side.
Beer shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Rolla tries to clinch there but Beer circles away.
Rolla throws a nice looking combination but Beer bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Rolla is breathing heavily.
Beer looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Beer misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Beer looks for a takedown but Rolla sprawls well.
Rolla looks to land a combination. Beer sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Rolla tries to close the distance and clinch but Beer swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Rolla looks for the body kick but Beer saw that one coming.
Beer wants to clinch but Rolla slips to the side
and Rolla counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.


That has opened up Blatz Beer's cut even more.
Beer throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rolla's waist but Rolla gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Beer off to one side.

Rolla misses with a few strikes there.
Rolla swats away the attempt to clinch by Beer.
Beer closes the distance and clinches up with Rolla, looking for a takedown. Beer pushes Rolla against the cage but Rolla circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Beer gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Rolla counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Beer is pressing down on Rolla's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Rolla trying to control the position from guard on top but Beer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rolla is really struggling to control Beer but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Rolla throws a strike but Beer rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Beer pushes down on Rolla's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Rolla is looking to improve his position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rolla pushes Beer off looking to stand but Beer dives back in and keeps control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rockin Rolla dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Blatz Beer's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Beer shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Rolla counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Beer throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Rolla escapes and throws Beer's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Rolla throwing strikes but Beer manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Rolla is trying to control Beer's posture but Beer avoids it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Rolla tries to bench press Beer off him but Beer keeps the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Beer is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Rolla has escaped the position, nice work there.
Beer working the head and body with strikes.
Rolla is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Beer wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Rolla, who protects the arm well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rolla tries to bench press Beer off him but Beer keeps the position.

Beer tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Beer has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Rolla trying to control but Beer flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!

Rolla is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Beer has Rolla flattened out and is raining down punches.
Beer lands a shot to the head.

Beer is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Rolla knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Rolla for a finish.

Blatz Beer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Beer drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Rolla is looking for a sweep.
Rolla is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Beer's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Beer uses his free foot to push down on Rolla's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Rolla.

Rolla is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Beer looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Beer fails to take his opponent's back.

Beer wants to finish this one by submission but Rolla is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Beer.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Beer has control of Rolla's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Rolla regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Blatz Beer has got the better of the ground game so far.
Rolla is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rolla keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Beer working for a submission but Rolla is keeping him at bay.
Rolla tries to reverse the position but Beer maintains control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Beer working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Rolla tries to hold on but Beer postures up.

And that's the end of the fight!
Blatz Beer comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Beer has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
