Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kores Sierra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gilbert Melendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gilbert Melendez will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sierra fails to land the takedown.
Sierra shoots for a double leg takedown but Melendez sprawls well. He's pushed Sierra's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Sierra shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Melendez as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kores Sierra. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Melendez fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Sierra, pushing him back against the cage.
Sierra has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Melendez is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Sierra drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Sierra is trying to pull guard but Melendez has him pressed against the cage.
Sierra tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Melendez just stands there and leans against the cage.
Melendez lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Melendez throws a punch but it's blocked by Sierra.
Oh Sierra is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Sierra is trying to drag Melendez to the mat but Melendez just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Sierra blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Sierra seems to have got his legs back now.
Sierra is trying to pull guard but Melendez has him pressed against the cage.

A right handed body shot lands from Melendez.
Sierra tries to pull guard but Melendez holds him up against the cage and eventually Sierra drops back down to his feet.
Melendez pushes Sierra back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Melendez scores with a shoulder strike.
Melendez lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Melendez dips a shoulder and cracks Sierra with a mighty uppercut! Sierra falls back against the cage and Melendez unloads with a barrage of strikes! Sierra is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Melendez screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gilbert Melendez!
A relieved looking Gilbert Melendez thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
