PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ray Zero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roger Schwarzeneg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zero comes to the cage accompanied by Fozzy's "Shine Forever". These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ray Zero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 43 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Roger Schwarzeneg!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Daniel Blasius and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Zero shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Schwarzeneg napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Schwarzeneg tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Zero moves into full mount!

Zero get's back to his feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Zero.

Schwarzeneg gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Zero to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Zero slips nicely into half guard.
Zero is looking to advance position but Schwarzeneg won't allow it.
Zero tries to stand but can't do so whilst Schwarzeneg controls his leg.

Zero postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Schwarzeneg is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Zero, into his guard.

Zero fails with the takedown.
Schwarzeneg looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Schwarzeneg fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Zero avoids it really well and circles away.

Zero gets a double leg takedown into Schwarzeneg's guard.

Zero stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Schwarzeneg swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Zero trying to control the position from guard on top but Schwarzeneg is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Zero is really struggling to control Schwarzeneg but he's trying to hold on to the position.

We're going to have a standup here because Ray Zero wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

We've been told by Zero's head coaches at Clark's Box & MT gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Ray Zero seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Zero throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Schwarzeneg's waist but Schwarzeneg gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Zero off to one side.

Schwarzeneg tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Zero defends well and Schwarzeneg ends up having to push Zero into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Zero wants to control from the top but Schwarzeneg keeps moving.
Schwarzeneg trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Schwarzeneg manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Zero tries to lock up and control but Schwarzeneg gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Zero sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Zero won't allow Schwarzeneg to pass to mount.
Schwarzeneg wants to get back to his feet.

Schwarzeneg decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Zero shoots in looking for a takedown but Schwarzeneg manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Zero's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

A head kick misses from Zero.
Zero shoots in and drives through. Schwarzeneg sprawls well.
Schwarzeneg defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Zero.
Schwarzeneg pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Schwarzeneg will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Schwarzeneg slaps away a takedown attempt from Zero, before circling back to the center of the mat.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Zero holds on and takes a little breather.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Well Schwarzeneg has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
