PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Butch Shorette (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ken Kahne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shorette comes into the arena with No New Friends blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Butch Shorette!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ken Kahne!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shorette misses with a body punch

and Kahne counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Kahne.
Shorette has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Kahne is working Shorette over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Butch Shorette has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Kahne tries to score a power double leg takedown but Shorette sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kahne somewhat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Shorette looks to score with a jab to the body but Kahne is just out of range.
Kahne steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Shorette.

and Kahne counters with a single leg into guard. Shorette didn't expect that.

Ken Kahne showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kahne looks up at the clock and then as Shorette takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Kahne smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Kahne working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

I've got Kahne winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
