Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cole Jaques (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Brooks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jaques comes into the arena with Whisper by Bring Me The Horizon blaring out of the sound system. Cole Jaques has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Brooks throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Jaques.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Brooks throws a right and a left that both miss.

Jaques feints and as Brooks raises his hands in defense, Jaques changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Brooks is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Jaques knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Brooks on the ground.

Brooks tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jaques paws at him with a jab and circles away.
No joy there for Jaques, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Jaques throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Brooks.
