Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Evan Farmer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ron Mexico!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Robert Twigg and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mexico closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Farmer did well to prevent Mexico getting side control.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Mexico wants to get back to his feet.
Mexico stalling.

Mexico is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Farmer might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Mexico missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Mexico sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Farmer defending well though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mexico fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Farmer tries to reverse the position but Mexico maintains control.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mexico is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Mexico looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Mexico changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Farmer looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Ron Mexico has got the better of the ground game so far.

Mexico goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Farmer rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Mexico's guard! Nice work there by Farmer!

Farmer got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mexico has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Farmer has managed to get both his arms back between Mexico's legs - danger averted.
Mexico pulls Farmer in to control the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mexico can do anything to dispel that myth.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Ron Mexico wasn't active enough on the ground.

Mexico shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Mexico is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Mexico wants to pass the guard but Farmer is keeping the position.
Mexico wants to stand but Farmer is controlling his posture from full guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ron Mexico was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Mexico moves into the clinch.
Farmer could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Mexico successfully pulls guard.
Mexico has his hands on Farmer's head, controlling the position.

Mexico wants to hit a switch here but Farmer passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Mexico there!
Mexico is wriggling around trying to escape.
Mexico manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Mexico gets back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ron Mexico showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Mexico shoots in and gets a takedown into Farmer's guard.
Mexico controlling from the top position.

Ron Mexico has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Farmer gets caught flat footed, as Mexico shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Mexico passes Farmer's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Farmer wants to stand back up but Mexico manages to pass into side control.

Mexico is trying to get an arm triangle but Farmer is defending well.
Mexico controlling from side mount.

Mexico throws a strike aimed at the side of Farmer's head but Farmer avoids it well.
Mexico controls the position from side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mexico cracks Farmer with a big right hand but Farmer just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Mexico happy to just control the position for now.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Evan Farmer has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ron Mexico is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Ron Mexico comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mexico has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
