PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jason Kripp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Todd Tucker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tucker comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Platters - Only You kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Todd Tucker looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Kripp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Todd Tucker!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Robert Twigg and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tucker stuffs the takedown.
Kripp tries for a takedown but Tucker sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kripp.

Tucker stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Tucker wants it to stay on the feet.
Kripp doesn't manage to clinch there - Tucker circles away.
Kripp shoots in looking for a takedown but Tucker manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kripp's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Kripp dives in for a single leg takedown but Tucker sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Kripp drops down looking for an ankle pick but Tucker pulls his leg out and moves away.
Kripp tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Tucker paws at him with a jab and circles away.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Kripp is looking for a takedown.
Kripp drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Tucker gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Kripp has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Tucker after a bit of a struggle.

Tucker stops a takedown attempt from Kripp.
Kripp has Tucker pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Tucker manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Kripp is breathing heavily.
Kripp is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Tucker gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Tucker wants to break free but Kripp has control.
Tucker avoiding damage as Kripp throws knees to the body.

Tucker looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Tucker has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Kripp is trying to drag Tucker to the mat but Tucker just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Kripp jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Tucker walks away with a smile on his face. Kripp gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jason Kripp will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Kripp tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Tucker smiles and moves away.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Kripp here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kripp throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Tucker's waist but Tucker gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kripp off to one side.
Kripp will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Kripp tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Tucker manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Kripp changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Tucker tries to avoid it but Kripp manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Tucker to the ground. Tucker escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tucker decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Kripp fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Tucker avoids it really well and circles away.
Jason Kripp is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Tucker leaves Kripp with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

A close second round but Todd Tucker will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Tucker gets to his feet - Kripp follows without any prompting.
Tucker is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Kripp will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

The fight stays on the outside here - Kripp looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Jason Kripp seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tucker displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kripp.

Horrible takedown by Kripp or perhaps it was just good defense by Tucker which made him look bad.

Todd Tucker comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Tucker has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
