PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Francua Miteran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and HoYoung Kim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Francua Miteran!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, HoYoung Kim!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Daniel Franklin and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miteran is looking to clinch but Kim is avoiding it.
Kim shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Miteran counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kim won't be happy with that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kim struggling a bit here.
Miteran wants to stand but Kim is controlling his arm.
Kim is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Miteran off and has taken his back!
You can see the frustration on Miteran's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kim is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Miteran wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kim keeps working.
Miteran could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Kim tries to get to full guard but Miteran has control of the leg.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Miteran working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Miteran closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kim to the mat! Kim manages to get full guard.

Kim is breathing heavily.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Kim goes for a double leg but Miteran avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Miteran continues to drive forward.

Kim has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Miteran is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Miteran wants the takedown. Kim is fighting it off but Miteran persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Kim's guard against the cage.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Miteran's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Miteran wanted to stand there but Kim had control of the position.
Kim is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Miteran looks like he's trying to stand up.
Miteran is trying to maintain the position but Kim is very close to passing his half guard.
Miteran is trying to get back to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kim trying to mount his opponent but Miteran defends it.
Kim is trying to control. Miteran wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Miteran looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Miteran is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Miteran is refusing to be controlled, as Kim sits in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Francua Miteran dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Miteran throws a series of punches but Kim avoids them all with ease.
Kim tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Miteran manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Kim shoots for a takedown but Miteran saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Miteran scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Kim makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Kim.
Miteran might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Kim looking for a sweep. Not yet Kim, not yet.
Miteran trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Kim takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Miteran throwing strikes from guard but Kim blocks nicely.

Kim preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Miteran controlling from the top position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Kim lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Miteran!
Miteran is in all sorts of trouble here.
Kim tries to control but Miteran wriggling away.

Miteran is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Kim trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Miteran on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Miteran tries to get out of the position.

Miteran holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Kim tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Kim can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Miteran is looking to escape.
Miteran tries to hold on but Kim pushes him away.
Kim looking to control but Miteran is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Miteran holds on for dear life, controlling Kim's posture momentarily.

Kim unloads with some shots from mount but Miteran bucks and avoids them well.

Kim looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to HoYoung Kim.
Well Miteran has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
